Petroleum Excavation Odor Control Case Study
Excavation Project #1
A commercial site in Pennsylvania had petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil which required excavation. The concern was odor complaints from nearby properties during the excavation. BioWorld was contacted by an environmental engineering company regarding odor control options. The desire was 100% coverage along the 240 foot property line with an easy to work system requiring minimal maintenance.
4 drum mounted foggers were purchased and set up at 60 foot intervals. 2 gallons of Odor Neutralizer (BON) and 53 gallons of water were added to each 55 gallon drum. The foggers emitted a 30 foot fog of micron sized droplets and performed exactly as expected during excavation. Complete odor control along the property line was accomplished.
Excavation Project #2
A US naval station in California had petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil which required excavation. The concern was odor complaints from the nearby residents during the excavation. BioWorld was contacted by an engineering company regarding odor control. BioWorld Odor Neutralizer was purchased and applied to the sidewalls and exposed groundwater surfaces of two excavation pits.
After BioWorld odor treatment was initiated, there were no complaints from neighbors in the vicinity of the project.
